Androgenetic alopecia (AGA), also known as female-pattern hair loss, is the most prevalent type of hair loss in women. According to the Cleveland Clinic, more than 50% of women will experience noticeable hair loss at some point in their lifetime. Female-pattern hair loss (FPHL) affects an estimated 30 million women in the United States.
- Between ages of 30-49 years, about 17% of women will experience hair loss.
- Between ages of 50-69 years, about 25% of women will experience hair loss.
Female pattern of baldness commonly starts later in life with hormonal imbalances. Post-pregnancy hair loss is also extremely common and can add to the stress of welcoming a new baby. Thinning hairline is seen commonly, but females are unlikely to become totally bald-often noticed as a widening of their part in the frontotemporal (front and sides) regions of scalp.
Studies have shown that women experienced significantly lower levels of overall satisfaction in life than women without hair loss. Hair loss can have a profound impact on mental health, leading to feelings of depression, distress, and low self-esteem.

How does it work?

Unlike PRP treatments, there are no needles needed to perform the treatment, meaning Alma TED treatments are painless and effective.

- Male pattern hair loss (androgenetic alopecia) - Driven by sensitivity to DHT (dihydrotestosterone), which can shrink hair follicles and shorten the hair growth cycle.
- Poor scalp circulation - Reduced blood flow limits oxygen and nutrient delivery to hair follicles, weakening growth.
- Aging-related changes - Hair follicles become less active over time, leading to thinner, slower-growing hair.
- Stress and lifestyle factors - Chronic stress, poor nutrition, and smoking can negatively impact hair growth and scalp condition.
