If facial redness, visible broken capillaries, or sun spots have you reaching for concealer every morning, Dye-VL offers a precise, comfortable way to address both vascular and pigmented concerns, often in the very same session.
Available on the Alma Harmony XL platform here at Mantra Health and Wellness in Modesto, Dye-VL was designed to match the effectiveness of traditional dye lasers, with the comfort and versatility of pulsed light.

How Dye-VL Works
Dye-VL delivers light energy through a precise 500 to 600 nm wavelength band, tuned specifically to target hemoglobin (found in blood vessels) and melanin (found in pigmented spots).
Powered by Alma's proprietary Advanced Fluorescence Technology (AFT), this narrow spectrum passes gently through the skin's surface while being selectively absorbed by the targeted vessel or pigment. Visible vessels are closed off so your body can reabsorb them naturally, and excess pigment is broken down so it clears over time.
Treatments can be delivered as controlled single pulses or with Alma's In-Motion technique, which spreads energy more gradually across the skin for added comfort.
What Dye-VL Can Treat
Dye-VL is a versatile option because it addresses two very different categories of concern with one wavelength band.
Redness and Visible Vessels
- Facial and truncal telangiectasias (broken capillaries)
- Rosacea and persistent facial redness
- Angiomas and spider angiomas
Pigment and Sun Damage
- Sun-induced lentigines (age and sun spots)
- Freckles (ephelides)
- Chloasma (melasma)
- Other benign pigmented lesions, including keratoses and plaques
Because it targets both hemoglobin and melanin, Dye-VL can often address redness and pigment concerns as part of the same treatment plan.
Is Dye-VL Right for You?
Dye-VL is cleared for use on Fitzpatrick skin types I through V, making it appropriate for a wide range of skin tones. At your consultation in Modesto, we will evaluate your skin type and the specific concern you would like addressed, then build a plan around it.
What to Expect During Treatment
Comfort: Most patients tolerate Dye-VL well without numbing cream, and the handpiece's built-in contact cooling helps keep each pulse comfortable.
Downtime: Minimal. In a published case series of patients treated with the Harmony XL Pro Dye-VL applicator, the only side effect reported was mild, temporary swelling in a small share of patients, with no scarring or lasting pigment changes, and no real recovery time needed.
When Will You See Results?
In that same published study, patients achieved more than 75% average clearance of treated lesions, with some vascular spots clearing almost completely after just one session.
Treated vessels typically fade gradually as your body reabsorbs them, while pigmented spots often darken slightly before flaking away over the following days to weeks.
How Many Sessions Will You Need?
Most patients need between 1 and 5 treatments, spaced 2 to 5 weeks apart, depending on what is being treated and how your skin responds. Your provider will outline a personalized plan at your consultation.
